Hardwood Oceans Between Lovers

Hell froze over and so did everything between us
like hardwood oceans between lovers.
The vast and open roar, silenced.
All the life within us, put on hold indefinitely.
There is no trace of sunshine, no healing warmth.
If doesn’t matter that it’s June in a coastal ghost town,
because every summer is still winter since you left.
Just like the sand on these desolate shores,
you slipped through my fingers
and nothing has been the same since.
There’s no patching things up, no restoring the balance.
It’s gone. It’s over. Your stone anchor went overboard,
and stopped the waves in their tracks.
