Don’t Do It

Don’t do it, don’t get attached
Don’t fall again, don’t make him laugh
Don’t you bother, don’t waste your breath
Don’t smile back, don’t start to expect

‘Cause he’ll let you down, let you fall
Laugh as you struggle to understand it all
He’ll pretend like he does, go on and on
Until you look up and find him gone

You won’t know why, or what went wrong
Assuming the worst, you can’t stay strong
Tears dry up, but the ache remains
Knowing they warned you it’d be this way

So don’t do it, don’t get attached
Don’t fall again, don’t make him laugh
